Sun's Transit of Ophiuchus
Transit Dates: November 30 thru December 17, with November 29 and December 18 being the attendant cusp dates.
Stars 4 Oph and 58 Oph conveniently mark the ecliptic
parameters of the sign. By searching the database for the date and time of the least
angular separation between the Sun and each star, we can calculate the transit with
reasonable accuracy.
4 Oph - Ecliptic long. 247.521°, lat. +001.553° ; Sun conjunct this position on the Ecliptic (center of the "Zodiac belt") on November 29, 1997 at 17:05:34, GMT.
58
Oph - Ecliptic long. 266.120°, lat. +001.701°; Sun conjunct this position on
the Ecliptic on December 18, 1997 at 00:26:30 GMT.
55
Oph - Main star in system, technically a "multiple" star, the name of
which I have seen spelled three different ways, but the most common is Ras Alhague.
Ecliptic long. 262.420°, lat. +035.835°; Sun conjunct this position on the Ecliptic on
December 14, 1997 at 05:29:11 GMT.
